February 8, 2010 (Miami, FL) - The Sea Flower, a cargo vessel loaded with relief supplies for Haiti, left its Miami River terminal at 14:15 Monday afternoon. ETA - 3 days.
After stressful negotiations that continued throughout the weekend, the Sea Flower was towed away from its terminal on the Miami River. Representatives of the coalition of NGO's that donated relief supplies, those who organized the procurement and loading of the vessel and the Hatian Consul in Miami, Ralph Latortue, and the vessel's owner saw the cargo vessel away from the dock. The Haitian Consul expressed his gratitude for the assistance to his nation.
Several of those gathered are bound to Haiti by plane to help with relief efforts on the ground and to line up the off loading of the vessel once it reaches its destinations.
